Detail of an un-swept floor mosaic (asaratonoikos) of the domus of Aquileia. With its naturalistic style, resulting from the delicate arrangement of tiny pieces in vibrant colors, this mosaic easily captures the spectator’s eye.
The original, which dates back to the II century B.C., is kept in the National Archeological Museum of Aquileia.
